LAHORE: Punjab Minister for HR&MA Aijaz Alam Augustine visited central jail of Kot-Lakhpat Lahore on Friday to wish greeting of EId-ul-Azha. He also inspected all jail sections and inquired about facilities provided by Jail administration. The minister also presented the sweets to prisoners and said that it was top priority of the current government to turn jails into reform centres. Superintendent Jail and other officials briefed the minister about facilities being provided to inmates. They briefed that there were facilities of hospital, kichen, library, dispensary, carpet workshop, separate barracks for women prisoners, computer labs and security room, etc and Kot Lakhpat Jail was the second largest jail in Punjab province, which is spread over 65 acres of land. More than 4,000 prisoners are serving their terms in jail. After every three months, sports competition being held and six days in a week chicken meat is provided to prisoners. The provincial minister said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government would play its role in ensuring provision of all basic facilities in all institutions. He assured the jail superintendent that he would perform his proactive role to improve jail conditions.
