Bhangra dancers make the crowd go

SHARJAH, UAE: Folk dancers from the BJ Lucky & Band group, hailing from the Indian city of Ludhiana, Punjab, brought the stage alive on the second day of the Sharjah Heritage Days (SHD) with their rendition of Bhangra and other dances. The audience clapped along to the lively beats and soaring music as the dancers did the typical bhangra moves along to the music of Punjabi folk instruments like the ‘dhol’ and ‘chimta’ in brightly coloured costumes.

Plenty such vibrant folk performances from the UAE, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, the Republic of Montenegro, and several more, will be staged by dance troops partaking in Sharjah Heritage Days from 29 nations around the world.

Organised by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, the 18th edition of Sharjah Heritage Days is a three-week festival celebrating the heritage and local cultures of UAE and the world. Running until April 10, the 500 events and activities taking place at the Heart of Sharjah district and the Khorfakkan heritage area are open to visitors from 4–10pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends.
