“Kokorology”, a study of wellness,is launching a 12-week therapeutic yoga program designed by Sabin, a certified yoga instructor. This is set to kick off on the 1st, October, 2020. The program will be held online either through group classes or one-to-one classthrough Zoom. The classes will be customized following a consultation to asses the participants’ needs.
’Kokoro' originates from the Japanese language meaning an alignment of heart, body, mind and soul, Hence Kokorology is a humble attempt at understanding wellness of the entire being. Modern day yoga has evolved into a competitive sport or has become a flexibility challenge; instead it should be one’s journey to wellness. The ‘Asanas’ – postures –can be used to build strength, to release physical stress pockets and to provide balance in the body. Connecting asanas with breath allows greater awareness, which starts combining the power of the mind with your body. In addition, once moments of pause are added to movement, we get a balanced flow that encourages natural healing to begin. Our bodies are smart. We need to just understand how to work with its natural powers.
“My stance is that yoga works on your nervous system more than any other system to give neurological benefits. This in turn affects almost all other systems present in our bodies.Through asana we develop discipline and create a balance, through breath we learn to release and be in the moment and through stillness we cultivate self-awareness.”, saidSabin.
During the sessions, Sabin willfocus on:
- the alignment of the spine and neck
- the general wellbeing of joints specifically the wrists, knee, hips, shoulders and feet
- mental health
- proper breathing techniques.
The flows will help attendee’s relieve pain, elevate their mental health, bring mobility, flexibility and stability to their bodies. Moreover, Sabin will discuss the sattva diet as food plays a major role in the stabilization of the body’s equilibrium; she will focus on reducing inflammation through food.
“The 12 weeks program is a complete program that will focus on the alignment of your heart, body, mind and soul, and that is what Kokoro Yoga by Kokorology is all about. It usually takes 21 days for our bodies to create a habit, and for a habit to become a lifestyle we need to practice it for a minimum of 12-weeks. Not only it will affect your life positively, but also 10 other people around you will be affected positively through your lifestyle change. I am aiming to develop a healthier community through enhancing one’s mental and neurological state.” Sabin concluded.
