LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that co-operation of religious scholars and religious tolerance is the need of the hour for inter-faith harmony in the present times for which we will have to play our individual and collective role for unity and peace of our state and we as a nation have to increase our tolerance and forgiveness. He further said that police teams in all the districts of the province are performing their security duties of Imam Bargahs and mosques diligently and responsibly and the solution of the problems facing the Shia community will be ensured on priority basis in future also. He directed the field officers to maintain close coordination with the Shia scholars and in their areas so that better security arrangements could be made during the holy days and at the same time no effort shall be spared in resolving the problems and grievances of the Shia community. He expressed these views during a meeting with a nine-member delegation of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan at the Central Police Office here today.  During the meeting, the Shia Ulema delegation apprised the IG Punjab of other issues including security of gatherings and processions (Majalis) on the arrival of Muharram.

The head of the delegation and leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi, thanked the IG Punjab for listening to the problems of the community and issuing immediate instructions for their redressal.  Praising the cooperation of Punjab Police for the security of Imam Bargahs and Mosques, Allama Hassan Raza Hamdani said that we are grateful to the Punjab Police on behalf of the entire community for the diligence with which the police teams perform their security duties of mosques and imam bargahs.  During the meeting, Shia scholars expressed complete satisfaction over the security arrangements of previous processions and gatherings (Majalis).  The delegation of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen led by Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi included 9 Ulema-e-kram including Afsar Raza Khan, Allama Hassan Raza Hamdani while Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan was also present on the occasion.
