OIC Secretary General and US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia explore ways for greater cooperation

JEDDAH, UAE: The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, today in his office received the US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, John Abizaid.

Talks centered on the importance of bilateral relations and partnership between the Organization and the United States of America and joint will to promote them.

The two sides explored ways to help broaden scope for mutual cooperation in various fields and enhance dialogue and its underlying mechanisms, to inject a new impetus and new substance into OIC-US relations.

Also addressed were issues of shared interest, most notably peace, security, coexistence, mutual understanding, counterterrorism and anti-extremism. For his part, the Secretary General reviewed the efforts conducted at all levels by the OIC, particularly its response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
