ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for National Health Dr. Faisal Sultan has said that vaccination of 40 year olds has been started from Monday. Giving a media briefing, he said that 19 million doses of vaccine would be received by June, adding that the process of vaccination has been started under an integrated strategy, adding that it was baseless to say that the government was taking vaccines only as donations. Yes, vaccines were delivered to Pakistan in a timely and thoughtful manner. He said that more than 19 million doses would be received by June, 90 per cent of which would be procured. So far, he said, deals have been signed to buy 30 million food items.
He said 70 million people would be vaccinated by the end of this year. About 150 doses of the vaccine are being given every day, he said. "Our target is 300,000 doses," he said. He said that the process of vaccination of people above 40 years of age has been started. He said that 100 million people of Pakistan's population could be vaccinated and the rest were under 18 years of age. "Our goal is to vaccinate 70 million people by the end of this year. Even in the current situation, we are succeeding in providing the vaccine," he said.
He said that some countries which are developing vaccines have banned their exports and even in this situation Pakistan is providing vaccines and China has helped us a lot in this. He said that an agreement has been reached to buy 30 million doses of the vaccine and 2.5 million people have been vaccinated against the corona virus.
