KABUL: Unidentified gunmen shot dead three female media workers in Jalalabad. Unidentified gunmen shot and killed three female journalists in the Afghan city of Jalalabad, according to a foreign news agency, Zahir Adeel, a spokesman for a local hospital in Nangarhar, confirmed the deaths.

According to the intelligence group called Site, ISIS has claimed that its fighters targeted these women. However, the arrested attacker has confessed to having links with the Taliban.

News director of private TV Zalmai Latifi said that the three women were targeted while they were walking home from the TV station. The women were on foot so they were easily targeted.

According to Nangarhar Police Chief Juma Himmat, female journalists were targeted in two separate attacks, one of the attackers escaped and was arrested after the attack, and has also confessed to being involved in the killing of women. A Taliban spokesman denied involvement in the attack.
